Built with intention.
Designed with trust.
Your finances are personal. We treat them that way. Here's how we protect your data, respect your privacy, and hold ourselves accountable to the people we serve.
Your data stays yours.
We don't sell your data. We don't run ads. We don't use third-party analytics trackers. Florin makes money from subscriptions, not from harvesting your information. Every decision about data handling starts with a simple question: would we be comfortable if this were our own financial data?
Encrypted at rest
Sensitive financial data is encrypted using AES-256-GCM before they reach the database. Each value carries its own initialization vector and authentication tag. Financial records are linked to opaque identifiers, not directly to your email or name. Even if the financial tables were compromised in isolation, they could not be tied back to your identity.
NIST SP 800-38D (GCM specification) ↗No trackers, no ads
Florin's privacy policy states it plainly: we do not use third-party analytics trackers or consent management platforms. No Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no Segment. Your browsing and spending patterns are never packaged for advertisers.
Light on the planet, too.
Every app you use consumes electricity and water through the data centers that power it. We think you deserve to know where Florin stands. So we did our best to estimate it.
* Netflix is the only figure calculated directly from first-party data: Netflix ESG Report (2019) reports 0.45 TWh for 167M subscribers. YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp are derived from company-level electricity reported to the IEA (Google: 18.3 TWh, Meta: 9.4 TWh in 2021), split by estimated product share and divided by monthly active users. TikTok is estimated from content type and average daily usage (Shopify, 2023: 54 min/day), as ByteDance does not publish energy data. Spotify is scaled from audio-vs-video intensity ratios. Florin is estimated from its server architecture. Full methodology in our Energy & Water Report. See also: IEA (Kamiya, 2020), Masanet et al. (2020, Science).

Water estimate uses the US average water intensity for electricity generation: 2.18 L per kWh, from Mytton (2021), npj Clean Water.

Building a finance app is a responsibility, not just a product. We're working with professionals who bring perspectives we believe are essential to getting this right. People who understand that money is not just numbers. It's anxiety, identity, opportunity, and power.
Diversity and inclusion in personal finance
We consult with financial professionals who specialize in the wealth gap, systemic barriers to financial literacy, and equitable access to financial tools. Their input shapes everything from our onboarding language to how we present budget thresholds. No one should open a finance app and feel like it wasn't made for them.
This isn't a checkbox. It's how we build.
We brought these people in during development, not after. The people reviewing Florin include both tech optimists who believe in what thoughtful software can do and skeptics who have seen fintech fail the communities it claims to serve. We need both of those perspectives to get this right. Building an app that's truly holistic and empathetic means holding ourselves to a standard that goes beyond code quality and into the human experience of using what we make.
Financial education should be for
everyone.
